Like 99% of citric acid powder around the world, the citric acid I use is derived from mold in an industrial process. Mold residue is thoroughly removed from the finished product but there is anecdotal evidence (i.e. it has not been studied under controlled conditions) of some people having reactions to citric acid when consumed or used on the skin.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe citric acid concentration in this soap is around 1.5% and I always recommend using dish gloves anyway since this type of soap is highly cleansing and can dry out the skin, so I expect it will not cause issues for the vast majority of people. If you do suspect you have a mold sensitivity but would still like to try the dish soap, I'd recommend starting with a stain stick since it is smaller and cheaper and only handle it with dish gloves.
