Shipping

At Fat Chance Farm we strive to make shipping as quick and economical as possible! At checkout, you will have the option of $9 flat rate shipping (via USPS Priority Mail) for orders up to $132 (about 20-22 bars of soap or an equivalent mix of products). We also offer UPS as a shipping option.

For smaller orders calculated shipping via USPS is often your best bet. Ground Advantage packages (formerly First Class) do ship with tracking numbers and often arrive as fast or faster than Priority Mail!

For those in the northeastern US, Priority Mail cubic rates are often cheaper than our $9 flat rate, since you are closer to our location in northern Vermont.

International shipping is available with calculated rates via USPS or UPS.

Why no free shipping?

The truth is that there's no such thing as free shipping. Retailers that offer this are simply bundling the shipping price into the price of their items. While this makes pricing simpler, I feel it unfairly penalizes people who make large orders, who are in fact my best customers!

I also sell on Etsy and sellers are strongly encouraged to offer free shipping for orders over $35. Since it affects how my shop appears in search results, I do offer this on Etsy. However, you will notice that my item prices on Etsy are significantly higher to accommodate this.

Charging for shipping encourages customers to make more economical ordering decisions. Especially since my products can be very efficient to ship in bulk (soap is fairly heavy for its size, so makes good use of both flat rate and volume shipping rates).
