Description
Simple, plastic-free dish soap made with grass-fed tallow and pastured lard. Perfect for hand washing dishes or in any DIY household cleaner calling for soap (e.g. Fels Naptha or other laundry soap). Tallow and lard make a durable and long lasting soap. A single bar will last a minimum of 6-weeks with daily use. Unscented. Net Wt. 4 oz.
To hand wash dishes, wet your sponge or brush, preferably with warm water and then scrub it across the dish bar to soap it up. Then do dishes as usual!

Why citric acid? This simple addition to the soap recipe helps this soap perform well even in hard water and helps prevent soap scum build up in your sink. It also improves lathering. Like 99% of citric acid powder around the world, the citric acid I use is derived from mold in an industrial process. Mold residue is thoroughly removed from the finished product but there is anecdotal evidence (i.e. it has not been studied under controlled conditions) of some people having reactions to citric acid when consumed or used on the skin.
The citric acid concentration in this soap is around 1.5% and I always recommend using dish gloves anyway since this type of soap is highly cleansing and can dry out the skin, so I expect it will not cause issues for the vast majority of people. If you do suspect you have a mold sensitivity but would still like to try the dish soap, I'd recommend starting with a stain stick since it is smaller and cheaper and only handle it with dish gloves. None of my other soaps contain citric acid.
This soap is not recommended for use on skin, since for extra cleaning power household soap is made without the extra fat that keeps my other soaps gentle and moisturizing, try Simple Tallow, Simple Lard or Simple Tallow and Lard Soap if you're looking for an unscented hand or body soap.

When I arrived in my apartment it was full of plug in perfume residue that I'm badly allergic to. I tried using a natural dish soap, but there is a myth that acid is better for the skin, and it melted the skin in my face really bad from the fumes. I made the horrible mistake to wash my walls with it. The acid fumes were so corrosive that my floor varnish started to smell all over the room, melted from the fumes alone! I tried to fix the floor with commercial products but it was so toxic and full of perfume that my face started to swell purple.
But this truly natural dish soap is absolute goodness! I didn't try it on actual dishes yet, but it saved my air quality and my sanity. I feel so calm and Zen now.
I tried it in my clothes for the first time. I read that I'm only supposed to clean the worst spots and then use a regular laundry detergent, but I couldn't find any for the same reasons. So I put some in a bucket and I soaked it all night. My clothes smell much better, it's unscented, but it smells like delicious goodness from nature, instead of toxic waste from a radioactive fake flower field.
I used to wash my clothes by only soaking them in water all night and the smell was fine but I wanted some soap for the whites. I think that if I only use soap ocasionally, it won't build up and become weird like the owner's review.
It feels so good to be able to wash with soap again without fearing to melt my skin from chemical burns again. I would use it with trust in my dishes that I will put food in, because I think there is a view is safe. Thank you for resisting trends that are going in the wrong direction and preserving ancestral goodness!
I used just tallow soap for dishes in the past but it left spots all over any glassware.. however this tallow and lard soap left no spot! .. it’s as good as my liquid soap in a plastic bottle .. THANK YOU! I’m free of buying liquid soap in a plastic bottle !
I use this for washing dishes and as a stain remover before washing clothes. Works very well, no unnecessary chemicals, gentle on hands, allergy-free. Another outstanding soap from Fat Chance Farm.

This is my first try using a bar soap for washing dishes, but I'm completely sold on it! It's hard, so it will last for a decent amount of time, I think, and the dishes get clean. Plus, it gives me peace of mind using such a simple, natural product with no harsh chemicals.
