Goose Fat and Beeswax Lip Balm

This simple, lightly scented lip balm is just three ingredients: pastured goose fat, Vermont beeswax and essential oil. Or try the even simpler unscented version! Protect and soothe your lips without the constant need to reapply. Available in lavender, mint and unscented. The goose balm has the best glide of our three lip balms.

Our compostable, plastic-free tubes hold 7g of balm, which doesn't sound like a lot but it's over 50% more than most standard lip balms, which often only hold 4g! 

Goose fat?? I hear you say... That's right! Goose fat is a traditional cooking oil and moisturizer across much of the world (there are geese almost everywhere, after all). Goose fat is chock full of fatty acids that your skin will love, like linoleic, palmitic and oleic acids.

Since this is a very small run of products, I'm able to make them with only fat from my own small flock of pastured Toulouse geese. These characters get to live it up on the farm, paddling in our large pond, grazing on fresh green grass and bullying the dogs, chickens and even cows! Each fall I process a few of the young birds to keep the flock to a manageable size and it's the fat from these birds that gets turning into lip balm (except for some that I use to roast potatoes instead!)

Because this product contains no preservatives or antioxidants, it's recommended you use them by the date stamped on the container. If you like to order multiples, storing extras in the freezer will extend their shelf life.

A note on scent: Goose fat typically has very little scent of its own, so this product will smell like a mix of lavender or mint and the natural scent of beeswax. Unscented has only a mild beeswax scent.

Goose fat is a great moisturizer but if you're dealing with intense dryness and chapping and you don't mind the scent of lanolin, you can try our Tallow and Lanolin Balm instead!
